Paris St Germain will make a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka after Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas admits the hit-man will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
The former France international has 10 months remaining on his current contract and will look for another club next summer.
The 33-year-old is still wanted by Chelsea, but he has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Fernando Torres.
PSG are now keen on signing Anelka and want him to form a strike partnership with Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov.
Villa-Boas has repeatedly declared his desire to renew Anelka’s contract but confesses the striker wants to move after his contract runs out.
“It might not be the player’s expectancy to renew,” Villas-Boas said. “Nico as a person is very, very happy, he belongs to Chelsea in the last year of his contract, performing.
“We will make our efforts for him to renew but Nico has his own decision to make and I am not sure he will be willing.”
Pressed on whether the player had indicated he wanted to leave, Villas-Boas replied: “Yes.”
