Luka Modric has been offered a new contract to keep him at Tottenham for the long term, after the playmaker scored against Liverpool on Sunday.
“He’s just getting on with it and he’s playing with a smile on his face again,” Harry Redknapp said of Modric after Spurs defeated the Reds 4-0.
“It was a great strike for the goal. I think the chairman will sit down with him and discuss his contract now. That’s what I would like to happen.”
Modric was the subject of transfer speculation during the summer, with the Croatia international hopeful of a move to Chelsea.
And despite Chelsea making three bids of up to £40 million for Modric, Tottenham refused to make a deal, and insisted that they were not a selling club.
And Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would have been pleased with his decision to keep Modric from Chelsea’s clutches, with the 25-year-old now looking settled and happy again at White Hart Lane.
