Man United Plan To Hijack Chelsea’s Move To Sign Young Assist Making Machine

Sir Alex Ferguson is considering making a move for Chelsea target Kevin De Bruyne after glowing reports from his scouts sent to run the rule over the Racing Genk youngster.

Andre Villas-Boas has been heavily linked with a possible move for the Belgian international who came up against the Blues in Champions League action earlier this month. The 20 year old is considered one of the hottest prospects in Europe and now Man United has entered the race to sign the attacking midfielder.

Last term was something of a breakthrough for the quick thinking youngster as he laid on 16 assists to help his side to their first domestic title success in almost a decade and has followed up that success with an excellent start to the current campaign during which he has begun to become more effective in front of goal, netting an impressive hat-trick at Club Brugge this weekend.

Man United have successfully brought in a number of youngsters from abroad and the UK to help as Ferguson plans for the future, indeed the policy appears to be an attempt to be more cost effective as the Old Trafford side looks to bring in youthful additions to complement those coming through the academy system.

Chris Smalling, Javier Hernandez, David de Gea and Phil Jones have been purchased over the past 18 months and now Ferguson’s scouts have alerted the Scot to De Bruyne which may well spark a bidding war for the £10m rated starlet.

Arsenal Look To Tempt Ajax With Cash Plus Player Offer For Vertonghen

Having seen his side concede goals at alarming rate Arsene Wenger has decided to re-affirm his interest in Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen by making an offer in the region of £10m the long term Gunners target. As was the cash offer the Arsenal boss will offer Frank De Boer his choice of a number of squad players he is willing to use as a makeweight in order to land the 24 year old Belgian international.

Among those thought to be available for such a swap deal include striker Marouane Chamakh and centre back Sebastien Squillaci, both of whom have struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Arsenal have conceded 21 goals in 10 Premier League matches leaving Wenger to worry about his sides ability to clinch a crucial top four finish. German international Per Mertesacker was brought in to beef up defensive options but continuing injury concerns over Thomas Vermaelen has still left the North London club looking very weak at the back.

Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou have both struggled to put a run of form together when called upon which has led to Arsene Wenger wanting to bring in another option at the back.

Vertonghen was handed the Ajax captaincy over the summer when Maarten Stekelenburg left for Roma, it was thought that was as much a decision to appease the consistent defender as much as it was about finding an able replacement to the Dutch international keeper.

Wenger will hope to tempt the Ajax man to leave the club he has represented since the age of 16 and even though Vertonghen will be cup tied with regards to Champions League football the urgency to secure at the very least a top four spot will lead to the Arsenal manager making a significant offer for the defender in January.

Chelsea Considering Making Another Bid For Modric In January

Chelsea is considering making another attempt to sign Croatian and Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric when the transfer window reopens in January.

Chelsea who lost 3 – 5 to Arsenal yesterday made several attempts to sign Modric over the summer, but manager Andre Villas-Boas is set to make a renewed effort to sign the Croatian playmaker in January.

The news that Chelsea will once again be courting their star player will be disconcerting to Tottenham fans.

Villas-Boas is likely to make an offer nearing the British record transfer fee Chelsea themselves paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres back in January, to force Tottenham’s arm and relent on their resolve to keep Modric at White Hart Lane.

Only two weeks ago Harry Redknapp the Tottenham manager said that Modric would have been sold in the summer if he had become a disruptive influence as a result of the speculation concerning his future.

Well it now seems that come January, Redknapp and Tottenham could have an anxious 30 days to see if the latest interest from Chelsea turns the 26 year old’s head.

Manchester United Plan £23m Bid For Former Liverpool Hero

Manchester United will make a £23million bid for Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano as the Red Devils try to address their midfield problems.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is worried about the lack of protection his backline is getting and wants the 27-year-old to give his side more bite.

The Argentina international has a contract at the Nou Camp until 2014 but is frustrated about being played in defence and wants a return to his favoured position.

It is unclear whether he would welcome a move to Old Trafford having spent three years at rivals Liverpool.

Anfield fans were unhappy to see Mascherano go but he still holds the club dear to his heart and dedicated Barcelona’s Champions League win over United to the Reds.

“I know the Liverpool supporters were a little bit sad with me after my exit, this is for them as well,” Mascherano said.

Ferguson tried to sign Mascherano before he moved to Liverpool but was put off by the third-party ownership agreement.

With that now cleared up, the United manager will make his move after losing patience with Michael Carrick and Anderson following the 6-1 defeat by Man City.

Arsenal Prepare To Swoop For England Intetnational Wing Wizard

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be keeping a close eye on the situation unveiling at Manchester City with regards to winger Adam Johnson.

According to reports in the Daily Star, Johnson and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini were involved in a bust up after the 5-2 win over Wolves in the Carling Cup.

Mancini made critical comments about Johnson after the game, despite the England international scoring a stunning goal and producing a Man of the Match display.

It is not the first time the pair has clashed, last season Mancini told the 24-year-old to improve his attitude off the field and his all round game needs to improve if he wants to fulfill his potential.

During the course of the summer transfer window Johnson was linked with a move to Premier League rivals and it is felt Gunners boss Wenger could make a move for the City winger in January.

Theo Walcott has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona of late and Wenger sees Johnson being an ideal replacement and are believed to be preparing a bid of around £12million.

Chelsea Prepare To Make £35m Move For Drogba Replacement

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is preparing to make a move for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani as a replacement for Didier Droga, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

It is felt by many at Stamford Bridge that this is Drogba's last season at the club, and some feel he may even be sold in the January transfer window.

However Chelsea have already set there sights on Drogba's replacement and Mick Doherty, Blues' European scout has made a number of trips over to Italy this season to watch Cavani in action.

Villas-Boas would have been impressed with the scouting reports as so far this term the Uruguayan international has already netted five goals in six games including one against Manchester City in the Champions League and a hat-trick against AC Milan.

Reports in Italy suggest Napoli rejected a number of offers from Manchester City for Cavani during the summer.

Last season Cavani scored 26 goals to help Napoli qualify for the Champions League and he is playing a key role once again this term as his goals have helped the side to fourth in Serie A.

However it is believed an offer of around £35million could be enough to acquire the services of the 24-year-old and Chelsea are ready to make a move in January.

Corinthians & Boca Would Welcome Tevez

After just over two years at Eastlands, Carlos Tevez's departure from Manchester City now seems a case of when, rather than if. The striker's alleged refusal to come on as a substitute in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich caused an irreparable rupture in the relationship between player and club, and it barely merits mentioning that in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Villarreal, as in all the other fixtures City have played since that September evening, the native of Buenos Aires' Fuerte Apache was nowhere to be seen.

The search begins, then, for a new home for Tevez's talents; but the list is narrowing. Roberto Mancini's refusal to let 'Carlitos' go in the transfer window, when clubs of the stature of Inter were knocking, has proved a millstone for the English club in light of recent developments.

Because if Inter, Juventus or any of the European elite baulked at transfer demands believed to total over €50 million before, the player's disciplinary meltdown means receiving such a sum now appears the stuff of fairy-tales. With European suitors nervous at taking on such an infamous loose cannon, this would open the door - if only an inch - to a move back to Tevez's South American home.

The dream move for the striker and for fans, of course, would be to see 'Carlitos' retread his footprints in Boca Juniors' Bombonera turf. Although it may sound like a pipe-dream, there are certainly those in La Boca who will pursue the deal. The Apertura leaders are reeling from losing Lucas Viatri to a cruciate ligament injury, and bringing their famous son back home would more than compensate for the loss of their steady but unspectacular current No. 9.

It is easy to see why such a move has captured the imagination. Homesickness has been a constant complaint from Tevez, almost since the day he crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and small wonder when one sees the rapturous reception he receives every time he sets foot in Argentina. There is also the prospect of, what could be, an electric partnership on the pitch with Juan Roman Riquelme.

The pair's spells at Boca only coincided for a fraction of the 2001-02 season, when then-17-year-old 'Carlitos' was introduced to the virtuoso playmaker, who was soon to be transferred to Barcelona. The idea of Roman and Carlos combining their talents should make any Argentine football fan salivate; unfortunately, though, the cards are heavily stacked against it.

Local sports bible Ole dubbed the transfer "Mission Impossible", and such a description is not just hyperbole. While one of the richest clubs in the country, Boca nevertheless would find it little short of impossible to meet the transfer fees demanded by City for a loan, let alone transfer, while the striker's wages would also prove an insurmountable barrier. A move would hinge on either the whims of a third-party investor eager to shoulder the burden, or goodwill on the part of Manchester City to send their man home - goodwill, one can imagine, that is in short supply around Eastlands where Tevez is concerned.

Even if a financial deal could be struck, registering Tevez would be the next hurdle. Argentine and Fifa regulations forbid international transfers and loans outside of the designated windows, and though Boca would have a case in citing the forced absence of Viatri as reason, they would still have to fight to gain special dispensation and bring their man in immediately.

A further possibility for the forward is another old flame of his, a little further north up the Atlantic coast of South America. Corinthians suffered a similarly histrionic Tevez exit when he left for England five years ago - complete with the alleged refusals to play - but it would seem they are happy to let bygones be bygones.

Rebuffed earlier in the year in their efforts to poach Ganso from neighbours Santos, an approach from the Timao is a far more concrete prospect than romantic overtures from La Boca.

It is no secret now that the Brazilian league is booming, thanks largely to an explosion in television money, sponsorship and outside investment, which has given players like Ronaldinho a way home. Tevez would be another jewel in the crown for Serie A, and, at 27, still one of the very best players in the championship.

Corinthians were another team to approach Manchester City for Tevez earlier in the year, but they may well find conditions more favourable this time round. The striker's value has dropped after those unsavoury scenes against Bayern, and the Brazilian club's negotiators and partners would be prepared to wait until January to complete the deal given the near-inevitability of Copa Libertadores football in 2012.

Timao president Andres Sanchez went as far to say that the striker "had one foot in Corinthians" when asked, and director of football Edu Gaspar made strong enquires on a recent trip to England. While that in no way implies a done deal, and Sanchez also revealed he expects a much-reduced transfer fee than what was proposed in August, it means that the Brazilians are seriously considering the Argentine for the new year; a sentiment shared by the player.

For Tevez, the two-hour flight from Sao Paulo to Buenos Aires would be a massive attraction, while the city is one he knows well and feels more comfortable in than Manchester. The opportunity to win the trophy he first lifted with Boca back in 2003 would also entice 'Carlitos' should Corinthians secure their place in the Libertadores for next year.

After watching the still-young forward sleep-walking into oblivion over the last year in Manchester, one could not avoid feeling that, more than falling out of love with a club, Tevez had fallen out of love with the very game that had taken him out of the concrete jungle of Fuerte Apache to worldwide stardom. As he kicks his heels in footballing purgatory, it is time for 'Carlitos' to consider a return home to South America; where his sins will be forgiven in return for the joy he is still capable of giving fans - whether they wear Boca or Corinthians shirts.

Heynckes: Danijel Pranjic Can Leave Bayern Munich In January

Bayern Munich midfielder Danijel Pranjic has been given the all-clear to pursue a transfer in January, should he decide to leave the club.

The 29-year-old has found playing time hard to come by this season and coach Jupp Heynckes will not stand in his way should a suitable team pursue his signature.

"Normally I'd only let a player leave in January over my dead body," the trainer said according to Spox. "If Danijel wishes to leave, though, he can."

The former Heerenveen star previously cast doubt over his future in Munich, citing his frustrating start to the season.

"This season is going very badly for me. Maybe I need to look for a new team, this is an option. I want to play. I think I will leave in the winter," he told Bild.

Pranjic signed with Bayern in the summer of 2009 and earned regular playing time under Louis van Gaal. However, since Heynckes took over as coach this summer, the Croatia international has made just one appearance.

Valencia Agree To Sign Andres Guardado

Valencia have agreed to sign Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Andres Guardado, according to Cadena Ser.

The 25-year-old has one year left on his deal with the Segunda outfit and he has opted against extending his contract.

The Mexico international wants to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season and, according to Cadena Ser, he has already reached an agreement with Valencia.

Los Che have reportedly agreed to sign Guardado when his contract expires in June, with the deal set to be announced in the coming days.

Guardado was tipped as one of the biggest prospects in world football when he arrived to Riazor in 2007, but numerous injuries prevented the player from showing his full potential.

Valencia boss Unai Emery, however, believes that Guardado still has a lot to offer, with the Mexican expected to vie with Pablo Piatti for the left wing position at Mestalla.

Udinese Rubbishes Rumours Of A Move For Filippo Inzaghi

Udinese president Franco Soldati has moved to quash rumours of a January bid for AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi, despite admitting that he admires the veteran poacher.

The 38-year-old forward has found first-team opportunities at the Giuseppe Meazza hard to come by this season, with Massimiliano Allegri having a wealth of options to select from in attack.

The Piacenza-born attacker had been linked with a switch to Francesco Guidolin's men come the new year, but this will not happen, according to the Stadio Friuli chief.

“I’ve read that story too, but it is just fantasy football for now," the 61-year-old told TMW.

“He’s a footballer who doesn’t really come close to our footballing philosophy when it comes to buying players.

“It would be an extremely difficult move to pull off even if he’s a player who I admire very much.

“We are a small club from the provinces and we can’t take strides that are bigger than our steps. We have to work with total balance," the executive concluded.

Inzaghi is under contract at Milan until June 2012, but may make a move in January given the lack of playing time he has enjoyed so far in the current campaign.
