Chelsea Plot Sensational £35m Swoop For Man City Misfit

Chelsea could launch a shock £35m bid for Manchester City misfit Carlos Tevez when the January transfer window reopens in January.

The Argentinian international has been forced to swallow his pride after losing the captaincy and his place in Roberto Mancini's side this season.

Now Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to bankroll a stunning bid for last season's joint Premier League top goal scorer with a 'take it or leave it' offer for the unsettled striker.

The 27-year-old was the at the centre of a protracted transfer saga during the summer, in which he claimed he would never play for City again as he looked to secure a move away from Manchester in order to be closer to his family in South America.

Prospective moves to Corinthians and Inter Milan failed to materialize after City slapped a huge £50m price tag on the former Man United man's head. He now finds himself stuck in an Eastland's nightmare and behind Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko in Mancini's pecking order.

Chelsea could offer Tevez an escape route to London - a destination that the talented forward would be open to moving to - and City may reluctantly accept a cut-price £35m bid in January to get the rebellious frontman off their books.

Andre Villas-Boas wants an experienced frontman to replace Nicolas Anelka, who has expressed a desire to leave Stamford Bridge having rejected an opportunity to enter discussions over extending his Blues contract - which expires at the end of the season.
