AS Roma has reached an agreement with Sporting Gijon over the transfer of talented defender Jose Angel.
The left back was a key member of the Spanish Under-21 side that won the European Championships last month, and has been called in to the Giallorossi as cover for John Arne Riise, who recently departed for Fulham.
The Spanish club released a statement on their official website, confirming the move.
It read: “Roma and Sporting Gijon have completed the transfer of Jose Angel to the Italian team. The player has already said goodbye to his team-mates and is on his way to the airport to join his new club in pre-season training.”
Angel was also strongly targeted by European heavyweights Barcelona and Manchester City, however the opportunity to work alongside the former Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique in Rome, was enough to get the starlet over the line.
