There were reports that Brazilian shot-stopper Julio Sergio was heading to Samp, but the 32-year-old’s agent quashed those rumours.
“There has been no official contact with Sampdoria and we already have a deal with Lecce, which should be finalized next week,” Alessandro Lucci told Primo Canale Sport.
“Sampdoria are an important club with ambitious projects, but there have been no negotiations and the agreement with Lecce is basically done.”
Lecce gains a new goalkeeper, but have officially released striker Chevanton by opting not to renew his contract.
The Uruguayan has already moved on to Argentina by signing for Colon Santa Fe.
“It’s a shame to leave, as I was happy in this city, but the club did not feel the same way,” Chevanton told Sky Sport Italia after his second stint at the Stadio Via del Mare.
“I am very disappointed, but I bring with me the greatest gift in the world: the affection of the Lecce fans.
“I spoke to the President and he told me they would renew, but then changed their minds. I expected more, considering I took a pay cut to move from Sevilla.”
